I'm seventy five, and honestly, I never thought I'd still be here standing behind this register every single day. But after I lost my husband and my kids went their separate ways, this became my life. My customers at Dollar Tree, they're my family now.

My landlord says they never received my rent check. I sent it, but now they're charging me over eleven hundred dollars in fees. The whole thing is a mess, and now I'm facing eviction. I've worked almost every day for two years straight, but it's still not enough. Even so, I try to greet everyone with a smile. What else can you do?

I don't want to spend what time I have left afraid of losing the roof over my head. I've shown up for people my whole life at work, in my community. Now I'm asking if maybe someone could show up for me.
