I live every day with glass in my eye a permanent reminder of the violence I survived. Removing it would leave me blind on that side, so I've made my choice, I need to see my children grow up.

I'm a mother of three, including my disabled son who needs me most. After escaping an abusive relationship that left me with a broken shoulder and shattered spirit, I'm fighting depression while trying to be the rock my family needs.

When my stove broke, I didn't think about myself I thought about how I'd feed my kids. That's always been my priority, even as I heal from injuries that still hurt every day.

I'm rebuilding our lives from nothing, but right now, my children need basics like clothes and shoes. I want them to feel normal again, to leave this pain behind us.
