I spent my whole life making sure nobody slept on the streets. I took in anyone who needed a meal, a bed even kids with nowhere else to go. That's just what you do.

But when I lost my home, they gave me thirty minutes to pack everything. Now here I am on these cold sidewalks, selling my beadwork, trying to figure out what's next.

I have fifteen children and twenty-seven grandchildren, and I want to stay strong for them. Even now, if someone walks by who needs help, I'll reach into my pocket. I can't help it that's just who I am.
