We Lost Our Simple Life And Now We Wait In Line Just To Eat

Before the war my life was simple but full of joy. We had a real home and ordinary days filled with a quiet happiness. Then everything changed suddenly. Our house was destroyed, and now my family of seven lives in a tent in a displacement camp. We spend this holy month of Ramadan just waiting for a community kitchen to open so we can have something to eat.

I am not asking for my old house back. I just want clothes for my children and enough food to get through Ramadan with some of the warmth this month is supposed to hold. Remembering the joy of simpler times is what reminds me of what my family deserves, and I have not stopped believing we can find our way back to it.
