I remember when my home was full of food and laughter. We were not wealthy, but we had a good life and my six children had everything they needed. The war took my leg and displacement took my home. Now I sit in a wheelchair in a camp, facing the painful distance between what I used to give my family and what I can give them now.

My love and drive for my children have not changed, but my circumstances were violently rearranged. I have not stopped trying. I still hold onto the memory of our home as a quiet hope that things can get better, but right now, my kids are hungry and my hands can no longer provide.
