I moved from Arkansas to Minnesota hoping for a fresh start, but instead found myself in a domestic violence shelter with my little boy, Malachi. Right now, I'm doing everything I can to make sure he's fed and cared for even if it means I go without eating for weeks.

All I want is something so simple, a safe place where I can give my son a warm bath and keep him healthy. The hardest part? Watching Malachi try to comfort me, wiping away my tears when he should just be playing like any other kid.
