I've been sitting out here on this pavement for five hours with plastic bags tied around my feet just trying to keep warm. Every night I go back to my tent and light a small fire because it's the only way I survive the cold but the smoke is destroying my lungs. I'm choosing between freezing and breathing. No one should have to make that choice.

I've been through a lot, but my spirit isn't broken. I still have wisdom, I still have dignity, and I still have a vision for my future. I just need a chance a warm, safe place where I can breathe clean air and start building toward something better.
