A Meal for a Stranger a Wish for My Daughter

When someone asked my daughter Emma and me for food, we didn't think twice. We walked him to our church's food pantry the same place where we volunteer and made sure he got a warm meal.

What that stranger didn't know? We're barely holding on ourselves.

Emma, my incredible six year old, had open heart surgery as a newborn because of a rare syndrome. She's healthy now, thank God but the tens of thousands in medical debt from saving her life still crushes us every day.

I show up for my community because it's the right thing to do. I give what I can, even when there's almost nothing left. But I'm exhausted. And Emma has one simple dream, to see Disneyland.

I'm not asking for much. Just a little help to breathe again and maybe, if possible, to give my brave little girl the magic she deserves.
