Eleven years ago, I had a studio apartment and a life I'd built. Then a stroke took it all away. I lost my home, my independence everything. Shelters can't give me what I need to truly recover, but I'm not giving up.

When someone offered me anything to eat, I asked for milk and pizza. That's all I need right now simple kindness. But winter's coming, and I need more than a meal to survive it.
