All He Asked For Was a Pair of Gloves

He was just trying to dry out his sleeping bag when they found him. His tent had ripped apart in the weather and he had nothing left to keep him warm. But when they asked what he needed, he couldn't bring himself to say much. He didn't want to be a burden. So he asked for gloves.

They came back with a new tent and a warm meal. He didn't know what to say, so he asked for a hug. That felt like enough to show what he couldn't put into words.

He's not asking for a lot. He never has. But he'd give anything to stop wondering each night if he'll make it through the cold. A safe place to sleep, walls that don't tear in the wind that would change everything for him.
