Through a Life of Struggle, Mark and Brenda Still Have Each Other

I met Mark and Brenda living in the woods today, and their story broke my heart. Brenda battles lupus and is recovering from back surgery in a wheelchair out in the cold. They only asked for garbage bags to stay dry and some food. Nothing more.

When I gave Mark a little help, he cried. He told me he's struggled his whole life, and this small kindness just overwhelmed him. They have their loyal dog and each other, but no one should have to survive like this.
