I'm Octavia, a mother of five. After gun violence threatened my family, my landlord evicted us without warning. My children ages two to sixteen and I ended up sleeping in our car.

Even when I had nothing, asking a stranger for bus fare, my instinct was to offer them the little change I had first. That's who I am, my kids come first, always.
