I was on the ground looking for spare change, my stomach empty, when someone on crutches asked me to help them cross a busy street. I didn't think twice. If somebody asks for help, you should help them, right?

I've been homeless and stranded in this city for five months. My family abandoned me. Most days, I'm just trying to survive. But when I received an unexpected gift for helping that stranger, I broke down and cried. It was the best thing that's ever happened to me a sign of hope I never thought I'd see.
