I Just Want to Feel Safe Again

I'm Robert. A few nights ago, someone came into my camp while I was sleeping and attacked me. They knocked me to the ground and stole my phone the only way I had to call for help. I didn't know if I was going to make it.

I'm still here. But I'm scared to close my eyes.

When a stranger showed up with clean clothes and some basic supplies, I didn't know what to say. I asked if I could have a hug. That's all I wanted just to know someone saw me.

No one should have to live like this. I'm not asking for much. Just a door I can lock. A place where I can sleep without listening for footsteps.
