Thirteen Months Sober and Still Fighting

I could ask for handouts, but that's not who I am anymore. I spend my days in this tent making candles because I'd rather earn my way than beg for it. I've fought hard for thirteen months of sobriety, and I'm not giving up now.

When someone offered to help me recently, I reached for my own savings first. My dignity matters to me. I'm doing the work  staying sober, staying focused, building something from nothing. I just need a bridge to get there, a vehicle, a stable place to sleep, a real shot at the life I'm fighting for.
