I didn't want to ask for help. I never do.

I was standing out there in the snow, wearing the only jacket I had, hoping someone would stop. When they did, I told them straight I don't want to be a burden. I just need a chance.

Walking through that store, I hesitated at the boots. They were basic, nothing fancy. But I couldn't bring myself to say yes without feeling guilty about it.

I've spent more nights alone in the cold than I can count. All I want is somewhere warm to sleep and a real shot at getting back on my feet.

I'm not asking for much. Just a chance to feel human again.
